José Luis Rodríguez Pittí is now a Professional Member of PEN America, a community of novelists, journalists, editors, poets, essayists, playwrights, publishers and translators working to ensure that people everywhere have the freedom to create literature, to convey information and ideas, to express their views, and to make it possible for everyone to access the views, ideas, and literatures of others.
PEN America is the U.S. branch of the world’s leading international literary and human rights organization, PEN International, founded in 1921 in direct response to the ethnic and national divisions that contributed to the First World War. The PEN American Center was founded in 1922 and is the largest of the 144 PEN centers in 101 countries that together compose PEN International.
